--:--
The South African-born Justin Rose was the clubhouse leader after the first round of the 89th Masters at Augusta which teed off yesterday.
Rose matched his career-best round at the major with seven-under-par 65 following eight birdies and a bogey for a three-stroke lead.
It’s the fifth time in his career that the English golfer has held the lead at the Masters.
Three-strokes back, Corey Conners of Canada, Scottie Scheffler of the USA, and Ludvig Åberg of Sweden, finished in a tie for second on four-under-par 68.
Rose said it wasn’t the easiest round, but his strong start helped.
