It was a good night for the two teams from Bloemfontein with Shimlas and the Ixias both claiming home wins in the Varsity Cup.
At CUT Park a determined Ixias beat the University of Cape Town Ikeys 23-19. The Ixias did lose all five points from their previous game against UJ due to a player eligibility transgression.
Over at Shimla Park the rampant defending champions, Shimlas, recorded their first win after thumping Wits 59-29.
Shimlas coach, André Tredoux, told OFM Sport that he was particularly happy with the first half.
