Springbok Captain Bobby Skinstad's Incredible Journey

Loading player...
Bobby Skinstad burst on to the international rugby scene as one of the sport's first impact players - a man coming off the bench and making a big difference. But there was soon controversy in 1999 when Springbok captain Gary Teichmann was dropped and many felt, unfairly, that Bobby had been forced in ahead of him.

Two years later Skinstad would captain his country and a couple of years later he had retired. But it was not over yet! Bobby returned in 2007 and was selected for the Rugby World Cup that year. He not only helped the Springboks win that tournament, but also got the opportunity to once again captain his country.

In this exclusive interview, Bobby discusses all these elements and more with Peter in a remarkable journey down memory lane.
