Beyond the basin: What does your bathroom double up as?

Loading player...
Think your bathroom is just a place to cleanse and unwind? Well, it's time to broaden your horizons. This seemingly single-purpose room often moonlights as a surprising haven for a multitude of activities. It’s not just a space to get ready or rush in and out of, its a place where many come up with some intriguing things.

According to a study conducted in 2019, 87 physicists and 98 professional writers recorded when and where their best ideas hit them each day, 20% of these thoughts struck these professionals while in the shower or washing the dishes. This is known as the ‘shower effect’.

For some, the bathroom is a creative studio. We know that may sound a bit peculiar, but we urge you to imagine the melody composed amidst the rush of a running tap, or the masterpiece sketched on a fogged mirror after a steaming shower.

For others, it's a reading oasis. A hot bath on a cold day is a quiet escape when you have a good book and a steaming cup of tea.
