Politicians took voter registration weekend as an opportunity to campaign for next year’s elections. President Ramaphosa got a mixed reception when he made a stop in Soweto. Some residents of Chiawelo, where Ramaphosa hails from, said it was disingenuous for him and other politicians to visit communities so close to elections when they haven’t done so throughout their terms.
