‘SAFA Didn’t Have A Choice’

With the COSAFA Cup only a few days away, all eyes will be on the National team, as Bafana Bafana finds themselves in a group with Botswana, Lesotho, and Eswatini. Recent news has shown that Orlando Pirates have refused to release 3 plays from club duty, to represent their country as the club wants these players to be well-rested for the start of the new PSL season, as heading off for international duty promotes risk to injuries and fatigue. Orlando Pirates have been competing in the PSL as well as the Confederations Cup, sometimes playing 3 games a week. “This is way more than the normal amount of games for a team,” said Orlando Pirates Spokesperson. Speaking on the SL Podcast’s “The Carwash” Sean Roberts and Teko Modise agreed with the Buccaneers’ decision regarding the matter of the COSAFA Cup.

In the latest episode of “The Carwash” former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town goalie Sean Roberts, and former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates star Teko Modise, dive deep in conversation about the upcoming COSAFA Cup. The crew also discuss the latest news in transfer business, inclusive of Kaizer Chiefs offering short-term contracts to allow a full-strength team to face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League Final. Later in the show, Soccer Laduma International news correspondent Kurt Buckerfield joins the show to discuss the latest news and drama surrounding the EURO 2020, Messi being a free agent, and the current situation with Kylian Mbappe!
