Voice of Change - Penny Grimbeek - Historical figures and their meaning on our identity and heritage as individuals

21.10.2021 - Voice of Change gets historical this week as we discuss important historical figures like Jan Smuts and Irma Stern! As well as the complications behind statue removals, historical figures and their meaning on our identity and heritage as individuals, and as a nation. Lauren is joined by Yentl Kohler, artist, educator and curator of the Irma Stern Museum in Cape Town, and Penny Grimbeek who curated Jan Smuts house in Pretoria, and won an award for restoration on this site.
Yentl Kohler is currently the Curator and Educator at the UCT Irma Stern Museum having started in August 2021, prior to this she was The Senior Museum Educator at Iziko South African National Gallery between 2013- 2021. She believes in the power of visual art and the benefit it has as a societal change agent – debunking artistic stereotypes and facilitating transformation, transparency and learning, by bridging the gap between the realities of the South African context and freedom provided by creative expression.

Voice of Change - Karen Bejjani - iHOPE Ministries

14.10.2021 - Karen co-founded iHOPE Ministries (www.iHOPEministries.org) with her husband to come alongside the Church and change the way everyday Christians think about sharing their faith across cultures. She’s the author of The Blue Cord, coming early 2022.
Karen is passionate about drawing alongside the church and teaching Christians how to share their faith with those from other cultures and religions. She joins Lauren to break down the definition of evangelism, as well as to share how simple it is to share your faith with people of peace - those God is drawing to Himself. Karen's forthcoming book focuses on millennial women and the barriers they experience, which keeps them from sharing their faith. Karen shares about these barriers and equips the listener to boldly proclaim their faith in this generation.

Voice of Change - Bianca Buitendag - First South African to win at Olympics in surfing

30.09.2021 - This week on Voice of Change, Lauren catches up with Olympic medalist for surfing, Bianca Buitendag. Bianca came into the olympic surfing competition seeded 17th and proudly won silver, becoming the first South African ever to win at Olympic surfing. She joins Lauren to discuss why she retired after the win, what the medal meant to her and how she is dedicating her time to empower and uplift children.
Bianca Buitendag is a South African professional surfer. She has represented South Africa at the 2020 Summer Olympics where she won silver in the women's shortboard competition.

Daniela has been a feminist gender activist for 35 years, she is the co - ordinatorr of the We will speak out South Afrcia coalition and is a lay canon in the Anglican diocese of Natal. Rev. Seipati Ngocobo is an Anglican priest who serves in the diocese of Natal, she serves as a board member of Philangethemba and is a member of the Diocesan Gender MInistry sterring committee.
