#004 The Judge and Defender of Human Rights | Edwin Cameron (Part 1)
--:--
Justice Edwin Cameron (Inspecting Judge Of Prisons | Chancellor of Stellenbosch University)
Turning stigmas of homophobia and HIV-AIDS into defending human rights.
An intensely vulnerable, honest and real conversation with a man who was described by Nelson Mandela as "One of South Africa's new heroes" and who has been called "The greatest legal mind of his generation."
Edwin had a traumatic childhood growing up in a fractured home, with an alcoholic father who was imprisoned for stealing a car, and he later spent 5 years in a children's home after the tragic loss of a sister and his mother's inability to be able to support him and his other sister.
Living in fear of being discovered for his true identity because he was gay and different, Edwin found his voice and his purpose as a defender of those who are marginalized, those who are oppressed, and those who are victims. As a result he has changed and positively impacted literally thousands of lives.
This is a story and a conversation that will have a powerful impact on you and how you view your own life and purpose.
Edwin is an extraordinary human who understands that in sharing our often painful experiences we allow others to resonate, relate and embark on their own journey of heling and purpose.
