Tourism sector asks government for more relief aid

--:--
SA Tourism's CEO Sisa Ntshona has called on government to greatly increase financial aid for businesses in the sector. He says that while the state does face constraints due to its dire fiscal position, the existing package of R200m is "a drop in the ocean". The tourism sector is estimated to have already lost R54bn due to Covid-19 so far and is set to lose another R80.2bn in foreign-exchange receipts that would have been granted between May and December, according to government data. The industry has also stated that 400,000 jobs are on line due to the forced closures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Business Day TV spoke to Ntshona for more on where things stand in the sector.
