Wayne McCurrie from FNB Wealth & Investments chose AVI as his stock pick of the day and David Shapiro from Sasfin Securities chose Microsoft Crop
McCurrie said: "Earnings are down 2%-4% which is nothing, and the biggest reason why is the Green Cross shoes, the restructuring and the cost associated with that. Their snack business and the coffee creamer business actually did quite well it's the shoe side in the spit side and what else would you expecting this environment. You haven't seen AVI at these valuations for a very long time. It might be too early, who knows."
Shapiro said: "I am going with Microsoft, if you look at their results, cloud is growing and it keeps on growing, it's a growing part of their business - as it is with other people who provide cloud services as well. Even Windows is coming back in a big way. The Microsoft business, Satya Nadella has done an incredible job, you know it's on subscription basis but in itself as a software it's picking up so, I think this can keep growing at 9%-10% so it's a very very strong buy."
