9 Mar NW MEC lambastes incomplete Taung centre

he North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha has lambasted what he calls the snail's pace at which construction of the R130 million community health care centre in Sekhing, Taung is proceeding. Spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane says Samabatha informed residents at a meeting on Wednesday that it is unacceptable that the Community Health Centre (CHC) is yet to be completed eight years after construction commenced. The MEC also visited the construction site amidst protest by residents with regard to the healthcare challenges, which are being fuelled by the delay of completion. Project manager, Ofentse Mathabatha, has however assured the MEC that the project is 90% complete and will be handed over to the Department of Health by end of March 2019. Lekgethwane says news that the centre will be handed over to the department were welcomed by community members who were part of the delegation that inspected the progress of the state of the art facility...
