Wage talks kick off in the gold sector

Gold wage negotiations kicked off today, unions Num, Solidarity, Uasa and Amcu will be representing workers with Num demanding R9500 for entry level surface workers and R10 500 for entry level underground workers and a R5000 housing allowance while Amcu sticks to its infamous R12 500. Meanwhile, the Minerals Council South Africa has revealed that 75% of the country's gold mines are unprofitable, just how much wiggle room does that leave them with to negotiate?
