Verdi’s dramatic opera RIGOLETTO opens at Artscape this weekend and in the title role is the South African baritone based at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, FIKILE MVINJELWA. Fikile has enjoyed a phenomenal rise to fame since his early days in Langa here in Cape Town and we at FMR are also proud because he won one of our Bursary Awards some years ago. Fikile will be talking to me about his exciting life in New York and about the challenges of Rigoletto, one of Verdi’s most demanding baritone roles.
