People of Note - Pretty Yende

--:--
Pretty Yende paid a fleeting visit to Cape Town recently, not to perform but to release her new album on the Sony Classical label called “Pretty Yende – A Journey” and Rodney Trudgeon managed to get her to come into the People of Note studio to record an interview.
Pretty’s story is a modern fairy tale. She was born in the small town of Piet Retief and after hearing the Flower Duet from Lakme when she was 16, she decided she wanted to become an opera star. Since then Pretty has been a rising star not only locally but on the international stage where she has dazzled audiences and critics at La Scala, the Met in New York, the Berlin State Opera, Zurich, Vienna and Barcelona.
