Protestors block street in industrial area in Potchefstroom

Around 1 500 protesting Chubby Chick employees blocked Luitingh street in the industrial area of Potchefstroom, near the N12 highway, this morning. The workers are allegedly protesting for better wages and working conditions. North West police spokesperson Mvula Chaka says there have been no reports of damage to property, although protestors did burn tyres in the street. He says no arrests have been made thus far and that police are monitoring the situation. Potchefstroom Community Policing Forum chairperson, Jeanne Adriaanse says police are currently negotiating with the protestors.
