R5,4 million stolen during cash-in-transit robbery in NW

Police in North West are still searching for suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery that took place between Stella and Mahikeng in North West.

Provincial police spokesperson Paul Ramaloko says six armed suspects made off with about R5,4 million.

He says the suspects set the vehicle alight before fleeing the scene.

The guards were also doused with petrol and threatened with their lives. They were robbed of their fire arms and cell phones. Ramaloko says that police are confident that arrests will be made soon.
