Phishing Platform Demonstration
In this episode of Namibias Top Cyber Security podcast Somebody's Watching, Marcel and Michael walked us through a live demonstration of how easily a convincing phishing platform can be built and used to harvest sensitive financial information, such as bank card details, from unsuspecting victims.
The demonstration showed how a fake but visually convincing banking or payment web page can be set up to mimic a legitimate service, and how a victim entering their details into such a page unknowingly hands that data straight to an attacker.
The episode used this staged scenario purely to illustrate how quickly and convincingly this kind of attack can be pulled off and how thin the line is between a real banking portal and a fraudulent one when victims aren't paying close attention.
