The FNB Eagles have pulled off a dramatic 3-2 ODI series victory over Test nation Ireland, securing a landmark achievement for Namibian cricket on home soil. After dropping the series opener, the Eagles bounced back in the 2nd ODI as skipper Gerhard Erasmus blasted a brilliant unbeaten 156 off 125 balls, powering Namibia to 321 and their first-ever ODI win over a Full Member side by 31 runs. Namibia took the series lead in the 3rd ODI, thanks to a masterclass century from Jan Frylinck, who smashed 126 off 122 balls to setup a 63-run victory. Despite a heavy defeat in the 4th match, the Eagles saved their best for Sunday's decider at the Namibia Cricket Ground. JJ Smit delivered a sensational spell of 4 for 20, skittling the Irish out for just 129, before Louren Steenkamp’s quickfire 46 led Namibia to a five-wicket win in under 22 overs. Future Media's Gary Stroebel was at the game.
