South African dance music continues to find its way into spaces beyond home and this month, NAAK and Vumaala are heading to Amsterdam for Amsterdam Dance Event or ADE. The event brings together artists, industry professionals and music lovers from around the world with this year also putting a spotlight on Sub-Saharan Africa.
For the two artists the trip comes at an interesting point in their individual journeys; NAAK has new music in the works, while Vumaala is developing his own artist project. So today, we’re getting into what this opportunity actually means for them, what they’re hoping to experience and where they see their music fitting into a much bigger conversation.
