Is a veterinarian, academic and veterinary entrepreneur with a passion for animal health and supporting farmers. He is a Production Animal Studies Lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Veterinary Science, where he contributes to the training of future veterinary professionals.
Dr Masilela is also the founder of Asante Veterinary Consultants, a veterinary practice established in 2020 to improve access to veterinary services, particularly for emerging and small-scale farmers. His experience covers the health and management of production animals, including cattle, sheep, goats and poultry.
Originally from Buffelspruit in Mpumalanga, his early exposure to livestock inspired his journey into veterinary medicine. His work also highlights the important links between animal health, food security, food safety and public health, including the prevention of diseases that can spread between animals and humans.
