The world’s attention is turning to Cape Town this week as researchers, policymakers, health professionals, community organisations and safety experts from across the globe gather for the 16th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion, known as Safety 2026.
Taking place from 1 to 4 September 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), the conference brings together experts from more than 80 countries and 481 organisations to explore how societies can prevent injuries and violence and create safer environments for people and communities.
Under the theme “Ubuntu: United for a Safer Future,” Safety 2026 places an African perspective at the centre of international conversations about injury prevention, violence prevention and public safety.
