A Payslip Can Change a Life: Inside the AskMandla Story

Loading player...
There’s a South African platform changing the way we think about the people who help keep our homes running.

AskMandla is a WhatsApp-first fintech platform helping households formalise domestic employment, making it easier to manage contracts, UIF registration, payroll, payslips and leave.

And that matters because domestic work is real work. Something as simple as a payslip can give a domestic worker formal proof of income, which can open doors to banking, insurance, savings and credit.

I chatted to AskMandla’s Peter Adolphs on the Good Things poddie about why calling someone “part of the family” is wonderful, but making sure their work is properly recognised and protected is even more important.

It’s a clever South African solution making it easier for employers to do the right thing, while giving domestic workers the dignity and financial recognition they deserve.
