Billy Monama on AI Posters: “I’m Officially Boycotting AI-Created Posters” | AI vs Human Creativity

South African creatives are navigating a rapidly changing industry as Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly common in music, design and promotional content.

Guitarist, composer, producer and author Billy Monama recently made his position clear, saying he is “officially boycotting” being featured on posters created using AI. He argues that AI-generated promotional material can undermine the hard work, skills and livelihoods of professional graphic designers and other creatives.

In this episode, Billy joins us to unpack AI, creativity and the responsibility of artists and event organisers. We discuss why he has taken a stand, whether there is a responsible way to use AI, and how the creative industry can embrace new technology without losing the value of human talent and originality.

Is AI a useful creative tool, or are we cutting corners at the expense of the creatives behind the work? 🎨🤖🎶
