Polar bears are more than just the cute animals on a Coke ad at Christmas. New research from the University of Saskatchewan and University of Manitoba shows that more human–polar bear encounters are driven by bears spending longer on shore—not hunger—based on over a decade of observations and sea ice data. Joining Brent to talk about these majestic animals is Douglas Clark, a University of Saskatchewan professor and one of the lead researchers on the study.
