In Conversation With Mr Walter Tebogo Letsie (Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education)

Parliamentarians are weighing the possibility of summoning former Higher Education Minister Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane — now serving as a private citizen — to account for her role in appointing ANC-linked individuals to the boards of Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).
President Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed Nkabane on Monday and promoted her former deputy, Buti Manamela, to lead the Ministry of Higher Education and Training. Dr. Nomusa Dube-Ncube has been named the new deputy minister.
The Cabinet reshuffle follows mounting pressure on Nkabane over her alleged misrepresentation to Parliament regarding the appointment process for SETA board members. Among the controversial appointees were individuals with strong ties to the ANC, including Buyambo Mantashe — son of Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe — and Dube-Ncube herself.
