City Power says businesses in and around Johannesburg owe over R60 billion.
The electricity entity has urged customers and business owners to come forward and make payment arrangements.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says they embarked on a revenue collection drive in Braamfontein today and disconnected defaulting businesses and residential complexes.“As the City we are sitting at about R64 billion that is basically owed across the City of Johannesburg and in this area alone City Power is being owed about R3 million. This is from the R10 billion that we are owed across the City. It is really worrying phenomenon because the expectation is that the businesses would have profit that they are making, which they should be able to pay for the services that they are using,” says Mangena.
