IN CONVERSATION WITH Obed Sibasa (Road Safety Educator Spokesperson Gauteng Traffic Police)

The Gauteng Traffic Police have reported 14 fatal road crashes across the province since the start of the Easter long weekend, resulting in the deaths of 15 people. Among those who lost their lives, nine were pedestrians, these numbers might increase as some people are not back from their holidays.
Traffic Police spokesperson Obed Sibasa is urging all road users to stay vigilant, follow traffic laws, and prioritize safety.
“Gauteng Traffic Police, alongside other law enforcement agencies, are out in full force,” Sibasa said. “We’re running roadblocks, stop-and-search operations, and patrols. If you’re on the road, expect to be stopped and your vehicle checked. We’re calling on everyone to take responsibility for their own safety and that of others.”
Authorities continue to promote road safety and remind drivers and pedestrians alike to obey the rules of the road.
