Johan Potgieter's journey in law began as a police officer, serving in stations, courts, and as a lecturer at the SA Police College. Rising to lieutenant-colonel, he earned a Theology degree but chose pastoral work over the police chaplaincy. Gaining expertise in family law, estates, and legal matters, he completed his LLB and helped draft the SA Charter of Religious Rights and Freedoms. Admitted as an advocate in 2015, he founded his law firm in 2020. He also lectures at the SA Law School and, with his wife, owns Life is Beautiful guesthouse at Menlyn Maine.
