The Grateful Hearts Foundation is a public benefit organization dedicated to
supporting pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons and other cardiac specialists. Phemelo
is joined by its founder Nhlamulo Tlakula who started this journey after her daughter
was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect(CHD) when she was 23
weeks pregnant. Her daughter underwent three life-saving open heart surgeries,
inspiring Tlakula to ensure less privileged families have access to good healthcare.
