Alwyn Uys’ 33-year old life is a miraculous and inspiring story of triumph in the face of utter tragedy. Destined for greatness as a South African rugby player, he trained at the prestigious Sharks Academy and was on track to making the Springbok team. But a devastating car accident in 2014 changed everything, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Refusing to let his dreams end there, through faith and resilience Alwyn found the strength to embrace his new reality and redefine his dreams. He became the first paraplegic in the world to swim the 8km stretch from Robben Island to Blouberg Beach, the first South African paraplegic to conquer the Ironman 70.3 and the winner of two SA Paracyling gold medals. His moving documentary ‘Against All Odds’ was recently a finalist at both the National Film & TV Award (NFTA) and the South African Film and Television (SAFTA) Awards.

But he didn’t stop there. Today, Alwyn continues to inspire others through his story, showing what’s possible against all odds. As a motivational speaker, he empowers people to overcome their own challenges and through his ministry he helps others break the emotional and physical chains holding them back. His story proves that faith and resilience truly have no bounds.

Join Craig as he chats with Alwyn about his incredible story.
