#Literacy| South Africa faced with a reading crisis

The 2030 Reading Panel led by former Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka has revealed that 82% of Grade 4 children across the country cannot read for meaning. During the release of the report, Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka said that when it comes to reading, there is a need for massive investment so that the country can break the back of the problem so that it does not persist. Siphumelele Lucwaba from the 2030 Reading Panel spoke to Nghamula Chauke to further this discussion.
