I want us to tap into the ugly side of the beautiful game. One that more often than not still remains a taboo... You'll hardly ever hear industry people addressing it. People say money can buy you happiness but I tell you this ask most footballers, they'll tell you it's certainly not buying their mental health. And that's because they are not immune to mental health. Poor mental health doesn’t discriminate. Personal struggles along with performance pressure and invasion of privacy can bottle players' mental well-being. High expectations and pressure to perform are part and parcel of playing professional football, and the intense environment can easily lead to poor mental health. Coupled with the likelihood of a short playing career, it’s no surprise that footballers face a unique set of challenges that can be hard for anyone outside the game to properly understand. One player who knows this challenging condition is none other than our own English based star, Lyle Foster. And he's gonna share with us exactly what it takes to suffer and triumph over mental health.
