Lyle Foster looks forward to Premier League journey
--:--
Growing up kicking a ball in the streets of Noordgesig, Southside of Johannesburg to Orlando Pirates, France, Portugal, Belgium and now the United Kingdom... No one could have scripted this fairytale story better. In January, he made a historic move from KVC Westerlo FC to Burnley for a reported fee of about R130m, which went viral thanks to a brilliant, animated clip of his unveiling. What a spectacular football path this young man has been on. He regularly came under the spotlight from couch coaches and naysayers in the early part of his career. Especially after he had been propelled to Bucs’ first team not long after his 17th birthday. I mean I remember vividly some social media trolls masquerading as soccer experts insinuated that he did not belong on the pitch and that he should find a different career to immerse himself in – all while he was still trying to find his feet and adjust to the rigours of professional soccer as a teenager. His move to England is seen as the revival of South African football and straight from being crowned Champions and gaining promotion to the English Premier League and attending the bus trophy tour yesterday, he has landed on our shores and hey, before he can go celebrate with his people in Noordgesig, his first stop is right here at #MSW studios because, once he gets home, we might never find him. Lyle Foster ladies and gentlemen.
