ANC provincial chairperson Panyaza Lesufi won with 38 votes to 22 for the DA's Solly Msimanga securing the position of Gauteng premier. Lesufi was appointed during a special house sitting in the province's legislature on Thursday. During his acceptance speech, Lesufi spoke about how he would lead and how he aimed to continue the work of former premier David Makhura.
