A site visit to Eskom's Medupi power station in Limpopo revealed that procedural non-compliance and lack of supervision and management oversight were the reasons for the plant losing unit 4 during an explosion in August last year. Speaking to the media, acting GM of the station Zweli Witbooi said the estimated cost to repair the unit was R2.5bn.
