"The Bafana Squad Should Be Selected On Form"- Fans Debate National Team Announcement

Last week, national team coach Molefi Ntseki announced his 26-man squad for Bafana Bafana’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Ghana & Sudan. There are some new faces and some surprise selections, out of favour Chiefs’ keeper Itumeleng Khune made the cut despite his struggles with Amakhosi, while Veli Mothwa, Thibang 'Cafu' Phete, Craig Martin, Ben Motshwari, and Ruzaigh Gamildien all earned their first call-ups. The selection has been a topic of debate with many national team regulars have struggled with form and injuries.

In the latest episode of the SL Podcast’s “Fan Reaction Show”, supporters debate the latest selection, with one fan stating “I’m surprised by the inclusion of Bongani Zungu and Itumeleng Khune”. Zungu has struggled to break into his club Rangers’ starting XI, while Khune’s only made a handful of appearances for Kaizer Chiefs, as Daniel Akpeyi has cemented his spot in the line-up. Another fan stated, "The Bafana squad should be selected on form and merit, the coach is selecting on favouritism.”
