Plans to take Limpopo Education Department to court for not feeding all learners during the lockdown #OnTheGoBreakfas

On Thursday 02 July 2020), the North Gauteng High Court will hear the urgent case that was brought by Equal Education (EE) and two Limpopo schools, to ensure that meals are provided to all nine million learners who would ordinarily benefit from the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP).

In essence they are trying to force the department to feed all pupils who qualify for the NSNP regardless of whether their grades returned to schools on 8 June.

The department’s NSNP feeding scheme was suspended when schools were abruptly closed in March. Schools reopened for Grade 7 & 12 pupils this month with meals being provided to those at schools only.

Positive Covid-19 cases at work : How this could affect you as an employee or employer #OnTheGoBreakfast

Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that there are now 138,134 total cases of coronavirus in South Africa. This is an increase of 6,334 cases from 131,800 cases reported on Saturday – when a record 24-hour high of 7,210 cases was recorded. The minister announced 43 new Covid-19 related deaths, taking the total to 2,456 casualties, with 68,925 recoveries to date.

On a global level we saw reports from the John Hopkins University yesterday showing that the number of people to test positive for Covid-9 worldwide has surpassed that 10 million mark! There are also accelerated reports of companies whose employees test positive for Covid-19.

Getting to know the SANDF Week 7 #OnTheGoBreakfast

The SANDF has now been waging a vicious war against COVID-19 for a little over three months now, and the disease is showing no signs of relenting. As the country adopts a risk-adjusted strategy to ease restrictions that are aimed at eventually allowing the people of South Africa to resume their ‘new normal,’ it is important for the SANDF to continue holding the fort and see this mission through.

On the other hand, the growing budget cuts on the Department of Defence pitted against a growing list of defence tasks and other responsibilities to support the people of South Africa, is another issue.

The state of drug rehabilitation in Limpopo #OnTheGoBreakfast

The 24th to the 28th of June marks the SANCA Drug Awareness Week.
In February this year it was reported that 70 drug addicts were rescued from an illegal rehabilitation centre located inside the Church of Christ premises in Moletjie - where the addicts were allegedly beaten and chained up.

The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) conducted a raid on the premises after they received a tip-off. Mpho Mashita and DJ Complexion caught up with the Limpopo Human Right Commission to follow up on this case as well as to look at the state of rehabilitation in the province.
