Northern Cape Premier Sylvia Lucas gave her provincial cabinet a major shake-up when she announced a reshuffling that lead to the sacking of one MEC and the appointment of three new ones. The reshuffling follows the death of Education MEC, Grizelda Cjikella last year and the conviction of John Block, former Finance MEC, on charges of fraud and corruption. Lucas' spokesperson, Monwabisi Nkompela says the premier especially looked at the representation of women.
