Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, has gazetted the new school regulations, that's likely to pave the way for private schools to open on the 1st of February. Last week the government announced that public and private schools should delay opening by 2 weeks. There had been uncertainty about how it would be applied in private schools since some had already started contact classes. The new school regulations that Motshekga gazetted today stipulates that private schools have to delay opening by 2 weeks from their scheduled start date of the 15th of January. Public schools will resume classes on the 15th of February.
