Is there significant change on the Cape Flats since deployment of SANDF

What has become of gang-ridden areas in the Western Cape since the deployment of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to assist police in curbing gang related violence in areas such as the Cape Flats? Did the deployment of soldiers stabilise such affected areas? Over the years South Africa has witnessed mass protests against gangsterism and drugs by disgruntled coloured communities in areas such as Westbury, Eldorado Park, In Johannesburg and in other coloured communities in the Western Cape. They claim that coloured people have been marginalized since the dawn of democracy as their communities are still plagued by social ills.
