South Africa has recorded 173 more COVID19 related fatalities since the last report, bringing the death toll to 8-thousand-539. Meanwhile, the number of infections has increased to 516-thousand-862 after 5-thousand-377 new coronavirus infections were recorded in the last 24-hour cycle. The country's recovery rate, however, now stands at over 350-thousand, translating to 69-percent. Zoleka Qodashe reports...

TEXT: Mpumalanga recorded the highest number of fatalities with 45 followed by Gauteng with 37, the Western Cape 31, the North West 28 and the Eastern Cape 20. The country is only one-thousand-461 new COVID19 fatalities away from reaching the 10-thousand mark. In the month of July alone, the country recorded an increase of 5-thousand-256 deaths whilst the number of cases increased by 333-thousand-850 new cases in just one month with the country expected to continue on the same trajectory. Meanwhile, Gauteng MEC, Dr Bandile Masuku warned of a surge in the cases in the province this month or in early September. Zoleka Qodashe, SABC News, Johannesburg
