Concerns over Public Servant infections as SA hits peak of COVID 19 pandemic

Since the national lockdown started in March, 21 000 civil servants have been infected by Covid-19. Public sector doctors, nurses and hospital staff; administrators and cleaners have been on the frontline of the pandemic. Essential services such as police, prison staff, emergency workers, municipal workers and court employees have been fully mobilized over the last 123 days.

Public Service Association shared its concerns regarding to key public services being short-staffed and the lack of testing for frontline workers as a result.
