TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS STUDENTS TO RETURN TO CAMPUS IN A PHASED-IN PROCESS

Students from universities and TVET colleges will have a staggered return to campus, of not more than 33 per cent at a time, during the different lockdown levels. Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande, revealed this during a media briefing in Pretoria yesterday. Tertiary institutions closed at the beginning of the lockdown at the end of March. However, some have since resumed online lectures. Nzimande says students will only be allowed back on campus once tertiary institutions have given the necessary assurances for their safety.
