EMPLOYEES ANXIOUS ABOUT THE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FUND

Some members of the restaurant owners association in Pretoria have expressed anxieties with the non-payment of most of the staffers by the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF)Covid-19 fund Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme . The Tshwane Tourism's Association representing most restaurants in the Capital City say only a small percentage of staffers were paid despite the UIF's online portal creating an impression that it has paid out. The industry in Gauteng employs around 300- thousand people. Restaurant owners are appealing to government to pay all staff what is due to them as tensions are mounting between employees and employers.
