Understanding how employers can respond to COVID-19 and leave
Early school holidays can wreak havoc with childcare arrangements and many working parents having to make urgent plans in order to ensure that their children are looked after. On Sunday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a state of disaster which enables the country's Government to introduce far-reaching measures to deal with COVID-19. One of the measures introduced by Ramaphosa is the closure of all public schools from today until 14 April. So how should employers treat the absence of working parents who are forced to look after their children ?
