Guinea Bissau's political crisis continues to escalate

Guinea Bissau's political crisis continues to escalate following the failure by the two presidential candidates to agree on the outcome of December's election.
While former Prime Minister and military General Umaro Sissoco Embalo was declared winner of the election by the country's electoral commission, the ruling party has rejected the results and is challenging them in the Supreme Court. Despite a pending Supreme Court's decision on a request to annul the election results, Embalo has already sworn himself in as president, while the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde which enjoys a majority in parliament has also installed a rival president who has since resigned.
