GORMLEY - VIC HUARD ON CO-OP LATEST - FEBRUARY 20
Workers and management at Regina's Co-op Refinery Complex are currently in mediation, working to end the labour dispute which has dragged on since early December. On Wednesday, Federated Co-operatives Limited announced it will be giving cash payouts to independently-contracted trucking companies that were affected by the union's illegal blockades at the refinery. Co-op says it will pay out 75% of what the truckers would have been making, applied retroactively to lease operators in Regina, Alberta, and Winnipeg. Co-op's Vic Huard joins Gormley to discuss the compensation and why Co-op felt it was necessary to compensate truckers.
