GORMLEY - REALITY CHECK ON PIPELINE NEGOTIATIONS - FEBRUARY 19
Prime Minister Trudeau urged patience from Canadians and warned against the use of force, but his government was still not able to secure a meeting with the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs at the centre of the pipeline protests across Canada. Trudeau says he's heard calls from impatient Canadians, Conservatives, and political commentators who want to see police - or even the military - breaking up the illegal protests to end the disruptions to Canada's rail system and other industries, but the PM said using force would be unhelpful and continued to push for negotiation with the hereditary leaders at the heart of the protests. Whenever public opinion is divided, we turn to our highly-scientific polling system that we call the Reality Check: Can negotiation end the pipeline protests in Canada?
