UNICEF highlights plight of children caught in violence in the Sahel

Nearly five million children in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger will need humanitarian assistance over the course of 2020, amid a surge of violence in the Central Sahel region. This is according to the United Nations Children's Fund. UNICEF is calling for renewed, increased and concerted efforts to curb the ongoing violence and to stop it from spreading into neighbouring countries.
