Makhubo, attained 137 votes of 268 votes, making him the new City of Johannesburg Mayor. Democratic Alliance Mayoral committee member for finance, Funzela Ngobeni received 101 votes while the Economic Freedom Fighter's regional chair, Musa Novela received 30 votes. Former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba officially left office at the end of November.
